Overview

IXL Learning is seeking a full-time lexicographer to join our content team for Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com, where you will create and edit reference materials accessed by users globally.

In Short

• Create and revise definitions in dictionary and thesaurus entries
• Create and revise IPA transcriptions and phonetic respellings
• Research and write etymologies
• Write editorial notes for word usage
• Craft example sentences
• Find creative words for daily features
• Collaborate with content writers and illustrators

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Linguistics or related field
• Impeccable knowledge of English grammar and IPA
• Superior writing and editing skills
• Ability to follow in-house style guidelines
• Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style
• Previous lexicography experience is a plus
• Outstanding communication skills
• Efficient and organized multitasking abilities
• Can-do attitude and attention to detail
