Backend Engineer (PHP/Java) - Remote

Overview

We at Holycode are currently seeking an ambitious and experienced Backend Engineer to work full-time on the Swiss table reservation system Foratable. As a Backend Engineer, you will join an international team of software engineers to create the next-generation platform, implement new features, and enhance the product.

In Short

• Build new features with the product team (PHP and Java)
• Maintain and improve existing functionality PHP 8
• Write unit tests and functional tests for added functionality
• Support the design and implementation of architectural principles
• Interact with product managers and software, test automation, and DevOps engineers

Requirements

• Master degree engineering or 3+ years of relevant experience
• Good knowledge about data structures, algorithms, and data types
• Understanding of service-oriented architectures (SOA) and event sourcing
• Passion for teamwork, code quality and agile techniques (CI/CD, automated testing, trunk based development)
• Knowledge of Functional programming, event sourcing and CQRS is a plus
• Experience with Java or a functional language like Haskell, Scala, or Rust is a plus
• Proficient in both written and spoken English
