Overview

The Database Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s SQL Server databases to ensure their optimal performance, availability, and security.

Manage and maintain SQL Server databases.
Install, configure, and patch MySQL and PostgreSQL instances.
Implement database schema design and data modeling.
Perform database backups and recovery operations.
Monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks.
Write complex SQL queries for data manipulation and retrieval.

Analyze database performance metrics for improvements.
Set up replication and failover mechanisms for availability.
Write scripts to automate database tasks.

Requirements

10+ years of database administration experience.
3 years specific PostgreSQL experience.
Familiarity with cloud-based database services.
Proficient in MySQL and PostgreSQL SQL syntax.
Experience with database monitoring tools.
Knowledge of database design principles.
Understanding of data replication and high availability concepts.
Experience with database security best practices.
Scripting skills (e.g. Bash, Python).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
