Overview

Guidewire is searching for an API / micro-services Engineer with experience designing, architecting, building, and maintaining event driven micro-services. You will be responsible for the engineering behind our NextGen HazardHub micro-services ecosystem, serving the property risk data, casualty risk data, and hazard risk scoring in the P&C insurance industry.

In Short

  • Design, develop, and maintain geospatial APIs and micro-services.
  • Collaborate with GIS analysts and Product teams to define API requirements.
  • Write application and infrastructure code to participate in all stages of API development.
  • Maintain existing codebases in languages like Go, Python, Scala, and Ruby.
  • Build stable, scalable, and efficient backend services.
  • Process CI/CD pipelines / GitHub Actions.
  • Troubleshoot live systems and evaluate / correct bugs.
  • Conduct code reviews and help grow the team’s skills.
  • Monitor API performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Ensure API security and authentication mechanisms are robust.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with enterprise-level APIs / Micro Services.
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of API best practices and architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with back-end languages such as Go, Python, Ruby, Java or Scala.
  • Proficiency with Cloud services such as GCP or AWS.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency with SCM (Git), CI (GitHub Actions).
  • Proficiency with web services (REST, OpenAPI, protobuf).
  • Proficiency with SQL, PostgGIS experience desirable.
  • Experience with Terraform (IaC) desirable.
