Senior Backend Software Engineer - Remote

Overview

Goodwin is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to help us on our journey to build the world’s premier charter technology solutions.

In Short

• Act as a senior backend engineer, reporting directly to the VP of Engineering.
• Design RESTful APIs for our Private Jet Charter Broker/Operator solutions.
• Be our subject matter expert in maintaining and scaling AWS infrastructure.
• Design and implement database schemas, optimize queries, and ensure data integrity.
• Develop, test, and maintain server-side applications using programming languages such as Node.js.
• Develop automated tests to ensure business needs are met and allow for regression testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and contribute to the design and architecture of backend systems.
• Work closely with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Mentor and coach junior back-end developers as needed.
• Provide production support during critical time periods which may fall outside normal business hours.

Requirements

• Proven experience (~7-10 years) as a Backend Software Engineer or similar role.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or bootcamp equivalent.
• Must have experience in writing highly secure web applications and with core AWS web-enabling technologies.
• Experience in designing RESTful APIs.
• Experience with PostgreSQL schema design, SQL query optimization, Prisma.
• Experience with AWS and DevOps tools.
• Proficiency in Express, Node.js.
• Exposure to distributed system cache, event-based systems, kafka, zookeeper, pub/sub and third-party system integrations.
