In Short

• Underwrite residential mortgage loans according to agency and investor guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies as well as external lending laws and secondary market requirements.
• Complete a thorough credit risk assessment and evaluate borrower(s) complete financial profile(s) to determine qualification.
• Verify documentation pertaining to income, assets, credit report(s), appraisal, title information, and letters of explanation.
• Validate orders retrieved from third parties such as tax transcripts, SSN reports, flood certificates, and verifications of employment.
• Examine appraisals, condition for needed revisions, & confirm they meet lender and regulatory guidelines.
• Evaluate loans requiring mortgage insurance & secure proper certificates.
• Utilize fraud detection tools and automated systems to produce efficient and accurate results.
• Manage a personal pipeline of loans at various milestones of the underwriting process.
• Strive to consistently meet underwriting turn times.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 Years of recent underwriting experience.
• Proficient with Conventional, FHA, & VA mortgage programs and requirements.
• FHA DE certification.
• VA LAPP certification.
• USDA & State Bond programs experience a plus.
• Proficient with DU and LP.
• Encompass experience preferred.
• Microsoft Office experience.
• Strong communication skills both verbally & in writing.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
• Understands financial principles and can make informed decisions.
• Efficient while working independently but can also collaborate with various departments & team members as needed.
