Senior Database Administrator - MS SQL - Remote

Overview

The Senior Database Engineer will provide timely and quality database design, development, maintenance, and problem resolution services for internal and external customers. They will manage highly resilient corporate and cloud database infrastructure utilized by GHX DaaS/SaaS solutions.

In Short

• Administration and management of GHX databases including backup and recovery, monitoring, security, installations, and failover management.
• Development and engineering of databases in collaboration with architects and software developers.
• Safeguard the company's data by adhering to operational and security policies.
• Provide 24/7 monitoring and on-call support for database issues.
• Evaluate and recommend upgrades and new database tools.
• Guide and assist junior database engineers.
• Implement automated processes using shell scripting.
• Develop standards and practices for secure database operation.
• May manage relationships with vendors and coordinate activities of other engineers.
• Encourage diverse perspectives for innovation on projects.

Requirements

• 5-8 years’ experience in MS SQL Database Administration.
• In-depth knowledge of MS SQL and willingness to learn other RDBMS platforms.
• Experience with cloud-hosted databases, preferably AWS.
• Proven ability to manage high transaction/high availability databases.
• Hands-on experience with Windows operating systems.
• Experience working with project managers to implement projects.
• Strong SQL and T-SQL development skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
