Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Services Virtual Assistant (VA) to support healthcare operations specifically catering to Native Indian American care services in Arizona. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing and collections, particularly with Indian Health Service (IHS), Medicaid (AHCCCS), and other tribal healthcare billing processes. In Short

  • Accurately process and submit medical claims for Native Indian American care services.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and coverage for Native American patients.
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and initiate appeals.
  • Reconcile claims and payments, prepare financial reports.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Coordinate with tribal clinics and healthcare providers.
  • Respond to billing inquiries from patients or healthcare facilities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in medical billing, preferably within tribal healthcare.
  • Familiarity with Arizona-specific Medicaid and tribal billing procedures.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding systems.
  • Proficiency in billing software and electronic medical records.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior experience working with Native American communities is a strong plus.
