Overview

The Orthopedic Coding Specialist is responsible for maintaining high-quality coding for various orthopedic procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines.

• Maintain ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding accuracy.
• Collaborate with medical staff to resolve coding issues.
• Review clinical documentation for coding purposes.
• Post clinical charges accurately for insurance claims.
• Follow up on claim denials and rejections.
• Integrate coding and reimbursement rule changes.
• Maintain knowledge of reimbursement regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
• Preferred completion of a coding certificate program.
• 3 years of experience in medical coding or reimbursement activities preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Ability to work under stress and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing coding regulations.
• Understanding of Evaluation and Management guidelines.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance billing practices.
