Design Engineer - Remote

Overview

Railblocks is looking for a hybrid Design Engineer — someone who thrives at the intersection of frontend engineering and product design. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who loves design, or a designer who loves to ship code. You will play a core role in shaping the UX, UI, and frontend architecture of the Railblocks platform.

In Short

• Lead user flows, interaction patterns, information architecture, and UI visuals for new product features.
• Create high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and design assets using Figma.
• Work within and extend a design system.
• Translate final designs into clean, modular, production-quality React code.
• Build reusable components and responsive layouts for the Railblocks web application.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs.
• Ensure high standards of accessibility, performance, and maintainability.
• Work closely with product, engineering, and design partners to bring features from idea to release.
• Contribute to team discussions on product direction and user needs.
• Maintain a strong portfolio demonstrating design work and shipped frontend interfaces.

Requirements

• Proficiency with Figma and strong visual design skills.
• Proven experience building front-end applications using React.
• Strong skills in HTML, CSS, and responsive design.
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset.
• Comfortable working in a distributed/remote environment.
• Located in Europe with eligibility to work for a European company.
