FOIA Analyst - Remote

Overview

First Principles & Concepts (FP&C) is seeking a FOIA Analyst to support the processing of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for federal government clients.

In Short

• Process FOIA requests in compliance with statutory requirements, agency regulations, and applicable guidance.
• Apply FOIA exemptions accurately and consistently during document review.
• Conduct effective internet and records research to identify and locate responsive documents.
• Draft clear, professional acknowledgement, interim, and final FOIA correspondence.
• Review, redact, and prepare responsive records for release.
• Maintain accurate and complete case documentation, including notes and supporting materials.
• Utilize FOIA case management systems and standard office software to track and support FOIA activities.
• Communicate professionally with internal team members and stakeholders to support FOIA processing and resolution.
• Support backlog reduction efforts and other FOIA-related initiatives as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of one (1) year of FOIA processing experience.
• Completion of FOIA training is required.
• Working knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. § 552).
• Demonstrated ability to apply FOIA exemptions accurately and consistently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, professional correspondence.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database tools.
• Ability to conduct effective internet and records research in support of FOIA search and review activities.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet established deadlines.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with a distributed team.
