Senior System Engineer - Remote

Overview

We are looking for an experienced System Engineer to actively shape the transition from externally operated IT services to a modern, highly available in-house infrastructure for a well-established financial institution in Frankfurt.

In Short

• Participate in the physical setup and commissioning in the new colocation data center.
• Establish a highly available environment with Hyper-V HCI Cluster, HPE servers, storage, network, and Fortinet security.
• Containerization using Kubernetes Cluster.
• Setup of monitoring dashboards (e.g., Paessler PRTG).
• Support and optimize systems from the Frankfurt office.
• Maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity & performance management.
• Gradual integration of hybrid scenarios with Azure & M365.
• Close collaboration with the Head of IT – short decision paths, high influence.
• Permanent employment for a key role in the company.
• Modern working environment with 1 remote day per week.

Requirements

• Completed IT training or degree with relevant experience.
• Extensive expertise in Microsoft Hyper-V (HCI Cluster).
• Knowledge in building and operating data center infrastructures (servers, storage, network, firewalls).
• Experience with HPE hardware and Fortinet security solutions is an advantage.
• Routine in administration, monitoring & troubleshooting.
• Bonus: Knowledge in Kubernetes, Azure IaaS, M365 administration & hybrid architectures.
