Staff Smart Contracts Engineer - Remote

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Staff-level Smart Contracts Engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of mission-critical blockchain systems with a focus on tokenomics.

In Short

• Writing and deploying smart contracts that govern the economics of the XMTP protocol
• Designing novel incentive models to reward offchain node operators
• Leading the development of complex token contracts (ERC-20, staking, governance, etc.)
• Architecting upgradeable contracts ensuring safe change management
• Championing security best practices and coordinating with auditors
• Managing large-scale funds in production environments
• Partnering with cross-functional teams to translate tokenomics into smart contract systems
• Establishing engineering best practices and mentoring other engineers

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience as a software engineer
• Extensive experience designing and maintaining cryptoeconomic systems
• Experience with auditors to find vulnerabilities
• 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on Solidity
• Proven track record of deploying production-grade contracts
• Strong understanding of EVM internals and gas optimization
• Hands-on experience with upgradable contracts
• Prior experience with formal verification and security-critical systems
