KOMOJU (by Degica) is the leading cross-border payment gateway for Japan. We power payments for companies like video game distribution platform Steam and the popular mobile app TikTok. Today we help thousands of merchants by providing them with the payment infrastructure they need through developer-friendly API’s to integrations on popular platforms like Shopify and Wix; we help our merchants grow in all markets they are expanding.

• Work on the payment gateway and other projects at KOMOJU.
• Collaborate in a flat and inclusive culture with ownership in work.
• Focus on building and maintaining core backend systems and internal tools.
• Engage in greenfield development and infrastructure stewardship.
• Work with a mix of Rust and Ruby on Rails technologies.
• Contribute to CI pipelines, observability tooling, and shared libraries.
• Provide feedback through code reviews and architecture discussions.
• Champion quality and reliability through automated testing.
• Identify opportunities for system clarity and performance improvement.
• Participate in occasional frontend or cloud infrastructure work.

Requirements

• Experience in backend development with Rust and Ruby on Rails.
• Comfortable learning new tools and systems.
• Ability to provide thoughtful feedback in collaborative settings.
• Understanding of CI pipelines and observability practices.
• Strong communication skills, especially in English.
• Bilingualism is a plus for smooth collaboration.
