Software Development Engineer (Cardset) - Remote

Overview

This role is responsible for helping create the cards and technology for Magic: The Gathering Online. You will be working in an agile environment that promotes freedom of thought, and rewards innovative ideas and creative solutions.

In Short

• Designs and implements solutions for Magic: The Gathering Online.
• Works in multiple programming languages (C++, PERL, C#).
• Supports emergent issues with the game rules engine.
• Performs literate programming with adequate commenting.
• Adopts industry standard and team-specific coding practices.
• Collaborates across disciplines (Production, Game Design, etc.).
• Communicates trade-offs, risks, and alternate solutions.
• Provides estimates of time and materials for development goals.
• Contributes to continuous improvement through code reviews.
• Gathers metrics and makes performance improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of experience creating and shipping software.
• 3-5 years working with C++.
• 2-3 years working with PERL.
• Experience with large, legacy systems.
• Experience with Windows and Microsoft systems; Linux is a bonus.
• Experience as a Magic Judge or familiarity with Magic the Gathering rules is preferred.
