Performance Engineer (6 Month Remote Contract)

CompassX is a boutique business and technology consulting firm that helps Fortune 500 and high-growth clients deliver their most strategic initiatives. We are seeking a Performance Engineer responsible for creating and implementing performance testing on complex distributed systems.

In Short

• Collaborate with various teams to review and document requirements.
• Design and execute performance test strategies.
• Analyze test results and establish performance metrics.
• Enhance performance tooling and testing processes.
• Identify bottlenecks in hardware and software platforms.
• Document predictions on potential bottlenecks.
• Communicate test results to relevant teams.
• Develop unique performance testing tools and methodologies.
• Support engineering teams with performance enhancements.
• Guide other teams in developing performance test plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in CS, CIS, engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in performance engineering.
• 3+ years of experience with performance testing tools (e.g., k6, Gatling).
• Advanced coding skills in JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience with microservices architecture and APIs.
• Hands-on experience in testing APIs and web applications.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and Kubernetes.
• Ability to perform various types of testing (load, stress, etc.).
• Strong technical communication and documentation skills.
