Overview

The Clinical Documentation Specialist will support coding initiatives, ensuring accuracy and compliance in medical documentation for Commonwealth Care Alliance.

In Short

  • Evaluate medical record documentation and coding for reimbursement optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with ICD-10-CM and CPT coding standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to primary care sites on coding issues.
  • Maintain a 95% quality audit accuracy rate.
  • Conduct education training programs on documentation requirements.
  • Stay updated with changes in coding laws and regulations.
  • Assist in identifying training needs and developing training materials.
  • Maintain related coding credentials and CEU requirements.
  • Work in a predominantly office setting with remote work opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding coding and documentation.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS, CCS-P) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required.
  • Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) certification required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficient knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT coding, and Medicare/Medicaid guidelines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver education programs.
  • Experience with EMRs (eCW, Epic, etc.) preferred.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to build interpersonal relationships with clinical staff.
