Counsel - Remote

Overview

The Counsel role involves executing the College’s disciplinary process, representing the College in all stages of discipline proceedings, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure compliance and effective management of legal matters.

In Short

• Maintain a caseload of discipline and appeal matters.
• Prepare for hearings and conduct legal research.
• Draft and review legal documents.
• Conduct settlement discussions with licensees.
• Collaborate with investigators and other staff.
• Provide guidance to Associate Counsel.
• Liaise with external counsel on assigned cases.
• Ensure compliance with agreements and orders.
• Support the College’s disciplinary process.
• Engage in policy/procedure development.

Requirements

• Law Degree (LL.B. or JD) and a license to practice in Canada.
• 5-7 years of litigation or prosecution experience.
• Knowledge of administrative law and professional regulation.
• Familiarity with Federal Courts Act and Rules.
• Experience in dispute resolution techniques.
• Proficiency in office and administrative software.
