The Canonical Kernel Team is seeking exceptionally talented technology experts and industry veterans with a proven track record to take the lead in the architecture, implementation, and ongoing delivery of kernel engineering for Ubuntu Linux.

In Short

  • Drive engagements for key Silicon and Cloud partners.
  • Lead mitigation of vulnerabilities for Ubuntu Linux.
  • Architect enhancements for performance and correctness.
  • Streamline packaging and distribution of third-party components.
  • Develop means to deliver Ubuntu Linux at scale.
  • Set technical direction and lead a team of engineers.
  • Collaborate with senior technical leadership.
  • Work in a remote environment.
  • Communicate effectively in English.
  • Travel internationally for company events.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Expert understanding of C programming.
  • Experience with *nix-based operating systems.
  • Python and Bash scripting ability.
  • Proficient with git version control.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
  • Strong background in RTOS.
  • Experience with Ubuntu/Debian/Snap packaging.
  • Experience with kernel patching and debugging.
  • Knowledge of device drivers and low-level system engineering.
