Controller - Healthcare - Remote

Overview

Burkland is seeking a dynamic and strategic Controller with a background in BioTech, MedTech, Digital Health, and/or Healthcare IT to support venture-backed startups in achieving their financial goals.

In Short

• Hands-on role ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Optimize accounting systems and processes for clients.
• Facilitate client meetings and oversee financial closes.
• Support startup clients without internal teams.
• Build robust processes and implement systems.

• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of GAAP and various accounting software.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in a startup environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or similar.
• Experience in Controller-level work.
• Ability to manage accounting processes including A/R, A/P, and cash management.
• Experience with Due Diligence and equity management.
• Familiarity with R&D accounting and multi-entity consolidations is a plus.
• Strong working knowledge of G-Suite, Quickbooks, and other financial tools.
• Excellent communication and client service skills.
• Curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies.
• Integrity and teamwork orientation.
• Ability to thrive in a remote-first workplace.
