Lead Human Centered Service Designer and Researcher - Remote

Overview

The Lead Human-Centered Design (HCD) & Service Designer will support the Secure, Performant, Reliable, and User-Centered Experiences (SPRUCE) IDIQ contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), driving user research and service design to improve the Veteran Transition Experience.

In Short

• Lead user research and service design for VA transition services.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research with Veterans and stakeholders.
• Create personas, journey maps, and service blueprints.
• Apply human-centered design principles to enhance user experiences.
• Collaborate with cross-agency partners to integrate services.
• Facilitate design thinking workshops and co-creation sessions.
• Support Agile development cycles with user feedback.
• Promote evidence-based decision-making in service design.
• Mentor junior designers and researchers.
• Ensure adherence to VA’s Digital Services Playbook.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience.
• Expertise in design thinking and user research methodologies.
• Experience in Agile environments.
• Ability to create user-friendly experiences from complex processes.
• Familiarity with ethical research and accessibility principles.
• Strong communication and storytelling skills.
• Leadership experience in co-design workshops.
• Must obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
