Staff Attorney I, Intake and Brief Services - Remote

Overview

Bet Tzedek Legal Services is seeking an intake and brief services attorney to provide legal advice and limited-scope legal services to housed and unhoused persons, supporting the Preventing and Ending Homelessness Project.

In Short

• Provide legal advice during daily phone clinic shifts.
• Offer limited-scope representation to individuals at risk of homelessness.
• Collaborate with paralegals and attorneys on legal issues.
• Update the PEHP intake guide as needed.
• Conduct monthly Know Your Rights presentations.
• Refer callers to community resources.
• Write reasonable accommodation and demand letters.
• Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

Requirements

• Commitment to Bet Tzedek’s mission of equal justice for all.
• Active member of California State Bar in good standing.
• Ability to work independently with case support.
• Experience in non-profit legal services preferred.
• Knowledge of landlord-tenant law required.
• Familiarity with public benefits preferred.
