DevOps Security Engineer - Remote

Overview

As a medium-sized company with around 750 employees and headquarters in Berlin, we offer exciting tasks in all areas along the value chain. We are looking for a DevOps Security Engineer to join our team in the FP Digital Business Solutions GmbH.

In Short

• Responsible for the security architecture of the infrastructure based on Proxmox VE, Ceph, RadosGW, MariaDB/Galera, PostgreSQL, and other open-source components.
• Implement and continuously improve Security-by-Design principles in a fully self-hosted stack.
• Secure and harden Linux systems, virtualization platforms, clusters, and networks.
• Operate and monitor distributed systems with high availability and data integrity.
• Integrate security monitoring, logging, and auditing with tools like Loki, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure secure CI/CD pipelines.
• Evaluate and implement compliance requirements (BSI, DSGVO, etc.).
• Conduct risk assessments, penetration tests, vulnerability analyses, and security audits.
• Define and implement disaster recovery and backup concepts.
• Support incident response and forensic analysis during security incidents.

Requirements

• Several years of experience in operating security-relevant Linux infrastructures.
• Solid knowledge in system hardening, patch management, encryption, authentication & authorization.
• Experience in operating high-availability systems and clusters.
• Understanding of requirements from eIDAS, QES, remote signatures, or similar secure transaction systems.
• Knowledge in security incident management and building SIEM solutions.
• Experience with open-source components and their secure operation in self-managed data centers.
• Analytical thinking, high diligence, and sense of responsibility.
• Team-oriented with a willingness to share knowledge.
• Fluent in German (C1) and good technical English.
