Overview

Arcadis is seeking a Traffic Signal Timing Engineer to join the team in Southern California to assist in modeling, developing, implementing, and fine-tuning signal timing in the region and possibly throughout the Western United States.

In Short

  • Responsible for planning, development, implementation, fine-tuning, and evaluation of traffic signal timing.
  • Analyze traffic signal operation on arterials and networks.
  • Develop new signal timing parameters based on detailed analysis.
  • Input traffic signal plans via central control systems and/or directly into local controllers.
  • Design and analyze traffic surveys to evaluate signal timing effectiveness.
  • Experience in report writing and public presentations is advantageous.
  • Involvement in business development, proposal preparation, project management, and budget control.
  • Develop traffic studies and impact reports.
  • Communicate effectively with clients on complex technical issues.
  • Flexibility in approach and methods to fit the situation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering.
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in engineering.
  • Experience in SYNCHRO and simulation models like VISSIM, PARAMICS, and TransModeler.
  • Desirable experience with signal timing analysis tools.
  • Experience with Q-Free Signal Software and Firmware.
  • Experience with advanced timing operations.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
