April Housing is a leading owner and operator of high-quality affordable housing throughout the United States. We are seeking a Director of Construction to join our Preservation team, who will help preserve critical affordable housing stock while ensuring compliance with all regulations.

In Short

• Identify areas to unlock value and craft growth programs.
• Lead and manage construction projects related to affordable housing.
• Develop relationships with functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Oversee project planning, estimating, and reporting.
• Negotiate contracts with general contractors and consultants.
• Coordinate site visits and monitor project quality.
• Prepare construction closeout documentation.
• Travel up to 75% as needed.
• Ensure compliance with local jurisdiction permitting processes.
• Support tenant outreach and project scheduling efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• 7-10 years of experience in construction and project management.
• Experience in affordable housing (LIHTC) projects.
• Strong communication and meeting facilitation skills.
• Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to analyze situations and develop effective solutions.
• Demonstrated leadership and team collaboration skills.
