Overview

American Oversight is seeking a Paralegal to support its legal team by managing public records requests and providing litigation support.

In Short

• Monitor FOIA and state open records email inboxes.
• Communicate with agency personnel regarding requests.
• Finalize and file FOIA requests.
• Create and organize folders in document management systems.
• Process incoming document productions.
• Provide litigation case support to attorneys.
• Manage public records request fee payment process.
• Facilitate training on paralegal systems.
• Identify new processes to promote collaboration.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in a professional office or legal role.
• Interest in government accountability and transparency.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Skills in time management, collaboration, and problem solving.
• Proficient in oral and written communication.
• Experience with standard office software.
• High degree of professional ethics.
