Independent Investment Committee (IC) Member - Remote

Overview

This role involves serving as an Independent Investment Committee Member for a fund focused on investing in Nigeria and Ghana, with a commitment to attend virtual meetings and provide strategic insights.

In Short

• Attend ~12 IC meetings annually (virtual; 1 physical annual meeting may require travel)
• Provide strategic insight, risk identification, and investment evaluation support
• Review and assess investment memos and quarterly portfolio reports
• Participate in final decision-making on investment transactions
• Contribute approximately 20-25 working days per year including prep and meeting time

Requirements

• Over 10 years in private equity, investment advisory, or corporate finance
• Proven experience making or influencing investment decisions
• Exit strategy experience
• African business experience required, with a preference for West African markets
• Experience in or familiarity with emerging markets is a plus
• Familiarity with mid-sized fund structures
• Understanding of investments between $2M–$10M ticket size
• Strong understanding of SME investing and portfolio review processes
• Ability to critically evaluate investment memos and financial reports
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
