System Developer / Tech All-Rounder: Hardware, Software & Technical Organization - Remote

Overview

We are looking for a System Developer and Tech All-Rounder who excels in both hardware and software, elevating our technical organization to the next level. As a young and dynamic company rooted in Codewerk GmbH, we focus on innovation to make rail freight transport more efficient and sustainable. You will be part of a team making real changes by working on the digitalization of rail freight transport, such as developing the control unit for the Digital Automatic Coupling (DAK). In Short

• Technical product development – Design circuits and develop assemblies from concept to implementation.
• Safety & Standards – Assist in preparing concepts according to common standards.
• Testing & Optimizing – Test software and develop small tools that simplify daily tasks in the team.
• Components & Procurement – Compare suppliers, components, maintain bills of materials and assist with technical orders.
• Structure & Collaboration – Document, manage build setups, and coordinate with our team and partners from the first prototype to commissioning.

Requirements

• Willingness to learn & Openness – You enjoy and are talented in quickly and deeply immersing yourself in new topics (e.g., electronics, software, mechanics).
• Technical understanding – You recognize connections between electronics, mechanics, and software and think systemically.
• Hands-on mentality – You implement things directly, whether circuit, script, or tool, without getting lost in theory.
• Pragmatism & Ownership – You work independently, find practical solutions, and do not give up at the first sign of uncertainty.
• Strong communication skills – You convey tasks clearly, communicate effortlessly in German and English (we are internationally active), and exchange ideas clearly with others.
