Protection and Controls Engineer - Remote

Overview

AECOM is seeking a Protection and Controls Engineer to support our Energy Business Line's Engineering Center of Excellence in Power Delivery programs, projects, and pursuits. This role can be remote located in the U.S. or hybrid out of any of our AECOM U.S. offices.

In Short

• Support electrical engineering design work on assigned projects.
• Collaborate with project engineers and managers on design schedules and budgets.
• Perform power system studies and protection settings coordination.
• Generate design documentation for protection settings and relay configurations.
• Support projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning.
• Attend client meetings and conduct occasional site visits.
• Work within a team environment with effective communication.
• Promote skills to new clients and maintain existing client relationships.
• Utilize knowledge of electrical engineering design and technology principles.
• Demonstrate high initiative, motivation, and attention to detail.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience.
• 2+ years of experience in protection and controls in electrical engineering.
• Knowledge of FERC and NERC requirements.
• Experience with IEC61850.
• Commissioning field experience.
• Proficiency in power systems analysis software (SKM, EasyPower, Etap).
• Experience with relay coordination utilizing ASPEN OneLiner.
• Experience in developing native relay setting files.
• Distribution automation experience.
• Experience in collaborative 3D model environments (e.g., Navisworks).
