Overview

The ACLU seeks a Legal Intern in the National Political and Advocacy Department (Immigration) of the ACLU’s National office in Washington, DC. This position is remote.

In Short

• Gain valuable experience working with the NPAD immigration team.
• Learn about creating change through integrated advocacy.
• Assist with drafting advocacy and public education materials.
• Conduct factual and policy research regarding immigrants’ rights.
• Research and draft advocacy prospects in response to threats to immigrants’ rights.
• Gather and analyze information related to immigration and detention.
• Research state and local policy work supporting ACLU campaigns.
• Strong interest in the rights of immigrants and civil rights.
• Full-time commitment required for summer internships.
• Remote or hybrid internship options available.

Requirements

• Demonstrated interest in the rights of immigrants.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity principles.
