Overview

The Mechanic at North Shore Medical Center will be responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electromechanical equipment within a healthcare environment, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

In Short

  • Install, repair, and maintain mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Review work orders and prioritize tasks based on urgency.
  • Operate and test new equipment to ensure functionality.
  • Maintain records of tests and repairs conducted on equipment.
  • Collaborate with hospital departments to address mechanical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and operational regulations.
  • Supervise and assist outside contractors as needed.
  • Participate in training staff on equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work environment.
  • Respond to emergency calls and perform necessary repairs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; vocational training preferred.
  • Approximately three years of related experience in mechanical equipment maintenance.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Ability to operate various hand and power tools safely.
  • Capacity to perform physical tasks including lifting and climbing.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with staff and vendors.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary.
