Overview

The Iafrate Lab in the MGH Molecular Pathology Unit is seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to join our research team, focusing on genomic and transcriptomic data analysis.

In Short

• Perform bulk RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, and spatial transcriptomics data analysis.
• Conduct Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) analysis, including variant calling and gene expression analysis.
• Utilize bioinformatics pipelines for data processing and interpretation.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines for sequencing datasets.
• Manage data storage and retrieval in compliance with FAIR data principles.
• Maintain documentation and reproducible workflows using Snakemake or Nextflow.
• Collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary research team.
• Strong proficiency in Python, R, and Bash scripting.
• Experience with data visualization tools.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Requirements

• PhD or MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field.
• Expertise in NGS data processing and analysis.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
• Strong organizational skills for handling large datasets.
• Ability to write code using good programming principles.
• Knowledge of spatial transcriptomics technologies is preferred.
• Familiarity with database management (SQL) is a plus.
• Experience with machine learning for genomic data analysis is a plus.
