Lead Product Manager, Reader Growth - Remote

Overview

The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for an enterprising lead product manager to help evolve the Wikipedia reading experience for a new generation of readers. This role will be on the newly formed Reader Growth team in our Product and Technology department. The Product and Technology department builds the wiki experiences that enable our communities to achieve our vision: a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge.

In Short

• Lead the development of modern and engaging Wikipedia learning experiences on both the desktop and mobile websites.
• Drive a cross-functional team to build and deploy features and experiments.
• Work on designing lightweight experiments that can scale to fully deployed features.
• Apply standardized measurement practices and develop creative approaches to learn in a privacy-sensitive environment.
• Track and communicate progress, maintaining planning artifacts.
• Collaborate with Communications, Marketing, and Legal functions on high-profile projects.
• Conduct conversations with volunteer communities for feedback and adaptation of plans.
• Stay updated on developments in knowledge seeking, AI, and industry best practices.
• Persevere through setbacks to ensure team goals are met.
• Understand the diversity of our global user base.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of experience as a product manager in consumer-facing software development.
• Strong understanding of modern learning preferences and content discovery trends.
• Success in building and iterating high-scale consumer-facing products.
• Mastery of applying controlled experiments to product decisions.
• Experience leading product initiatives across multiple teams/functions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage diverse responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
