Group Product Manager, Data Platform Engineering - Remote

Overview

The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for a group product manager to guide the development and evolution of our data platforms, the collection of technologies we use to understand how Wikipedia works and improve its experiences.

In Short

• Lead the strategic decision-making and execution for Data Products and Engineering teams.
• Manage and develop a team of product managers.
• Define and set priorities for Data Platform Engineering teams.
• Oversee product lifecycle management of data products.
• Collaborate with user-facing product teams to guide product decisions.
• Ensure the accuracy and accessibility of data products.
• Work with a variety of technologies including Kafka, Flink, and Spark.
• Available for meetings between 15:00 UTC and 18:00 UTC.
• Travel internationally up to four times a year.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of product management experience.
• Experience hiring and managing product managers.
• Success in delivering data and analytical products.
• Expertise in data analytics and A/B testing.
• Strong understanding of high-scale data handling.
• Knowledge of search technologies.
• Ability to navigate privacy issues around data.
• Effective communication skills.
• Experience with open source or open knowledge communities is a plus.
• Familiarity with MediaWiki is desirable.
