Software Engineering Intern, Geospatial (Summer 2025) - Remote

Overview

We are looking for passionate, skilled, and motivated interns to join Wherobots’ dynamic team in building the distributed geospatial cloud database of the future. As an intern in our WherobotsDB & geospatial analytics team, you will help build new features, assist in designing and implementing APIs to extend our geospatial query capabilities, and contribute to improving the performance, observability, and reliability of WherobotsDB‘s distributed query engine.

In Short

• Implement new vector and raster functions and algorithms to extend Wherobots’ geospatial capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver high-quality software.
• Make open-source contributions to various Apache projects.

Requirements

• Passion for open-source projects and eagerness to learn.
• Strong technical background in scalable, distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Scala.
• Interest in building maintainable software.
• Understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Hands-on experience with Python is a plus.
• Experience with large-scale geospatial data processing is a bonus.
