The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in supporting patient care in the Medical Oncology Clinic, working under the supervision of registered nurses to assist with various clinical tasks.

In Short

  • Assists patients and visitors with information and issues.
  • Documents patient care activities including vital signs.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examinations.
  • Monitors and maintains adequate levels of supplies.
  • Transports patients as directed.
  • Communicates patient care changes to nursing staff.
  • Provides grooming and comfort measures to patients.
  • Assists with patient admissions and discharges.
  • Works collaboratively with the healthcare team.
  • Adheres to clinical programs and standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Completion of patient care technician course within 3 months of hire.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong work ethics and accountability.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs. to waist height.
  • Preferred: Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman.
  • Preferred: 1+ years of experience in an acute hospital setting.
