Medical Director, Gene Therapy - Remote

Overview

Ultragenyx is seeking a physician leader with the passion and creativity to develop gene therapies for patients with rare and ultra-rare diseases. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Global Medical Affairs Strategy – Gene Therapy, the Medical Director will be a key contributor to shaping strategy and implementing the medical affairs plans for various gene therapies, including within the inborn errors of metabolism therapeutic area.

In Short

• Provide strategic medical and scientific leadership to assigned program(s).
• Support the execution of the medical launch plan for relevant programs.
• Develop the integrated evidence generation plan for assigned program(s).
• Execute medical affairs activities including advisory boards and medical education initiatives.
• Provide medical expertise across the organization.
• Maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders.
• Lead publication development and review promotional materials.
• Support Medical Science Liaison activities.
• Partner cross-functionally within medical affairs.
• Exhibit leadership skills within and outside of the organization.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD, DO) with Board certification in Biochemical/Metabolic Genetics or Endocrinology.
• Experience in managing patients with inherited metabolic disorders.
• At least 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Clinical or industry experience in gene therapy preferred.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and developing innovative approaches.
• Proven leadership skills and passion for collaboration.
• Excellent speaking and writing skills.
• Highly analytical and strategic thinker.
• High attention to detail and demand for high-quality work.
• Travel up to 30%.
