Associate Director, Global Medical Communications - Remote

Overview

The Global Medical Communications Lead will develop and execute the medical communications strategy for approved products or investigational programs for Ultragenyx’s rare disease portfolio, ensuring effective communication across audiences and channels.

In Short

• Develop and implement the program-level medical communications plan.
• Lead the development and updates of the core scientific narrative.
• Manage medical communications deliverables including Q&As and slide decks.
• Support congress strategy and execution of Medical Affairs congress deliverables.
• Partner with the Publications team for alignment of publication outputs.
• Collaborate with Medical Information for consistency across medical deliverables.
• Ensure deliverables reflect current data and adhere to standards.
• Manage external Medical Communications vendors.
• Capture scientific insights from congresses for actionable updates.
• Contribute to launch readiness for internal and external engagement.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in a scientific or medical field (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent).
• 6-10 years of experience in medical communications or related roles.
• Experience in developing scientific narratives and congress materials.
• Strong understanding of clinical development and data interpretation.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience managing external agencies and vendors.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally (~20%).
