Overview

The Underwriter II – Commercial Lines is responsible for providing high-level service and underwriting support for a portfolio of small to mid-sized commercial accounts, including select high-profile or complex cases.

In Short

  • Process policy transactions with underwriting authority.
  • Manage endorsement requests and handle certificates of insurance.
  • Respond to service inquiries and identify cross-sell opportunities.
  • Provide expert-level service via phone and email.
  • Support proactive policy renewals and collaborate with teams.
  • Assist and mentor peers, offering training support.
  • Manage escalated service issues with sound judgment.
  • Contribute to quality control and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain documentation and follow-up efficiently.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of commercial coverages.

Requirements

  • Active Property & Casualty Insurance License required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial lines insurance products.
  • Proven ability to handle complex accounts with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in agency management systems and CRM platforms.
  • Able to lead by example and provide peer coaching.
  • 3–5 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting.
  • Experience in a call center or high-volume service environment is a plus.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
