Overview

The Occupational Injury HIM Technician is responsible for managing the release of protected health information (PHI) related to workers' compensation claims, ensuring compliance with regulations while supporting the Occupational Injury team.

In Short

  • Manage requests for medical information release in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Support medical providers with coding for workers' compensation claims.
  • Assist with tracking statistical data on workplace injuries.
  • Create presentations based on existing data.
  • Communicate with injured employees regarding information releases.
  • Act as a liaison for workers’ compensation carriers.
  • Obtain authorizations for medical procedures.
  • Work primarily remote with occasional office visits.
  • Full-time position with a 40-hour work week.
  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent and HIM experience.

Requirements

  • High School Education or equivalent AND one year of HIM experience.
  • Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Experience with workers’ compensation claims preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to track and manage data effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
