Fishery Scientist - Remote

Overview

SFI is seeking a Fishery Scientist to support NOAA Fisheries Southeast Regional Office (SERO) in St. Petersburg, Florida.

In Short

• Compile EFH information relevant to expedited major infrastructure projects.
• Track expedited major infrastructure projects in consultation tracking databases.
• Deliver updated information and links to final work products.
• Use GIS to make maps and manage spatial data.
• Maintain understanding of habitats and environmental pressures in Southeast U.S. watersheds.
• Coordinate across NOAA programs and share relevant information.
• Request necessary data to evaluate potential project impacts.
• Supply action agencies with relevant information and guidance.
• Develop and organize template responses for quick communication.
• Deliver project correspondence and communication among NOAA team members.

Requirements

• BS in Marine Biology, Marine Policy, Environmental Science, or equivalent.
• Understanding of ESA and Magnuson-Stevens Act consultation requirements.
• Knowledge of estuarine species and habitats, preferably with conservation experience.
• Strong professional writing and organizational skills.
• Desired: understanding of Southeast U.S. watersheds, site assessment experience, GIS experience, and estuarine fish conservation experience.

Benefits

• Salary range of $45,000 - $70,000 annually.
