Overview

SEARCH has an immediate opening for a Part-Time, Temporary, Qualified Maritime Archaeologist (QMA) to join our maritime team on offshore archaeological monitoring projects and learn about renewable energy development of the Outer Continental Shelf.

In Short

  • Part-Time, Temporary position for a Maritime Archaeologist.
  • Offshore deployment starting as early as May 15, 2025.
  • Coordinate with logistics for project scheduling and requirements.
  • Maintain professional standards and adhere to health and safety requirements.
  • Communicate project developments with the Principal Investigator and Project Manager.
  • Prepare daily progress reports and archaeological discovery notifications.
  • Stabilize, inventory, document, and transport archaeological materials.
  • Complete administrative tasks accurately and on schedule.
  • Identify and treat potential human remains respectfully.
  • Perform quality control of field data.

Requirements

  • Experience in maritime archaeology.
  • Ability to work offshore and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Understanding of archaeological discovery protocols.
