Archaeologist - Remote

Overview

SEARCH has an immediate opening for Full-Time Archaeologists to join our Terrestrial Archaeology division for multiple opportunities in Puerto Rico. Selected candidates must be Secretary of the Interior Qualified in Archaeology and based in Puerto Rico at time of hire. In addition to local projects, archaeologists will participate in SEARCH projects outside of the island.

In Short

• Conduct archaeological monitoring, survey, testing, and excavation.
• Evaluate and record accurate field notes and documentation.
• Collect and inventory artifacts and ecofacts.
• Perform quality control of field data.
• Use navigational equipment for project documentation.
• Photo-document various archaeological features and findings.
• Maintain field equipment and supplies.
• Coordinate with landowners and regulatory agency staff.
• Travel for extended periods of time.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Secretary of the Interior Qualified in Archaeology.
• Experience in archaeological fieldwork.
• Knowledge of cultural resource management.
• Ability to evaluate archaeological resources.
• Strong documentation and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with GPS and other navigational tools.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Willingness to travel for work.
• Adherence to health and safety standards.
• Strong communication skills.
