Overview

The Charge Entry Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and efficient entry of patient charges into our billing system. This position is essential for optimizing reimbursement and maintaining compliance with payer requirements.

In Short

  • Accurately input patient charges into the billing system in a timely manner.
  • Review provider documentation for completeness and compliance with coding guidelines.
  • Ensure proper application of CPT, ICD-10, and modifier codes, particularly in OBGYN cases.
  • Collaborate with providers and office staff to resolve discrepancies and clarify charge details.
  • Monitor charge entry workflows to ensure timely submission for claims processing.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving issues related to coding and billing errors.
  • Stay updated on payer rules and regulations to maintain compliance.

Requirements

  • Required:
  • Experience in charge entry, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10, and modifiers.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience with OBGYN coding and billing.
  • Proficiency in eClinicalWorks (eCW) or similar EHR systems.
  • Familiarity with revenue cycle management workflows.
