Software Engineer IV - Remote

Overview

Rackspace is hiring for a Software Engineer IV. In this exciting role you’ll be designing and creating a database from the ground up. This is not maintaining something that someone else created... you will truly be creating it!

In Short

• Support high complexity customers and internal teams on an as-needed basis.
• Collaborate with other teams on tools for systems automation and development.
• Work in conjunction with multiple teams to ensure Rackspace infrastructure and customer applications work harmoniously together.
• 6+ Years of software engineering experience on mission-critical, enterprise level systems.
• 6+ Years of Linux systems experience, ideally Ubuntu, SUSE and CentOS.
• 6+ Years professional experience in Python language to automate infrastructure workflow.
• Demonstrated Linux/Systems experience in hybrid (cloud, on-prem) environment.
• Experience with Ansible, Salt or similar configuration management tool.
• Experience working with cloud environments, primarily AWS.
• Understanding of software development methodologies including agile development.

Requirements

• Experience in monitoring technologies like Sensu, Nagios, Icinga, Grafana, Prometheus.
• Understanding Kubernetes, container lifecycle, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on knowledge of high-availability approaches such as load balancing and failover.
• Container management/orchestration experience preferred.
• Experience using LXD system containers preferred.
