Overview

ProPublica is an independent, nonprofit newsroom that produces investigative journalism in the public interest. We are seeking an accomplished audio journalist to serve as senior producer for a new weekly podcast series based on our reporting.

In Short

• Develop the creative sensibility and operational systems for a weekly show.
• Lead production on episodes from start to finish.
• Identify guests and sources for interviews.
• Write and structure scripts ensuring accuracy.
• Edit tape and create assemblies in Pro Tools.
• Conduct research and ensure journalistic integrity.
• Foster relationships with reporters and coach them in audio techniques.
• Maintain the editorial calendar and manage multiple episodes.
• Oversee the mix process for episodes.
• Supervise a producer on the team.

Requirements

• At least seven years of experience producing audio at a national level.
• Experience in public-interest journalism.
• Portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating high-quality narrative audio.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience collaborating with hosts and reporters.
• Experience scripting and structuring long-form audio projects.
• High-level organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Pro Tools is required.
• Ability to travel for assignments as needed.
