Character Artist - Remote

Overview

The Character Artist is responsible for creating compelling and visually consistent character designs, props, and callouts that align with the project’s anime design style and narrative. The role requires a balance of creativity and technical skill to develop characters that meet the artistic vision of the project. The Character Artist must be adept at managing multiple tasks, solving design challenges, and maintaining an efficient workflow.

In Short

• Develop character designs from concept through production.
• Create turnarounds, model sheets, shadow/lighting guides, action poses, and expression sheets.
• Complete all designs within assigned deadlines.
• Generate multiple views of characters as required.
• Adjust designs based on technical requirements for animation.
• Communicate progress with the Character Design Supervisor.
• Ensure all artwork is properly backed up and saved.
• Prepare all shipping materials according to production schedule.
• Maintain high standards of quality and consistency in designs.
• Work collaboratively within a team structure.

Requirements

• Proficiency in the anime style of the series.
• Relevant drawing and design experience in character development for animation.
• Thorough understanding of perspective and anatomy.
• Proficiency in Clip Studio is required.
• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is a plus.
• Strong time-management skills and ability to multitask.
• Open to Texas residents, with the option to work remotely.
