Director of Nonclinical Development - Remote

Overview

The Director, Nonclinical will be responsible for building and leading the nonclinical function to support the advancement of novel therapeutic candidates. This role requires a proactive, execution-oriented leader who can independently drive nonclinical strategy, design, and operations across multiple programs.

• Lead strategy and execution of nonclinical activities for antimicrobial therapies.
• Own implementation of nonclinical strategy for controlled-release injectables.
• Direct efforts to advance irrigation solutions for prosthetic joint infections.
• Oversee microbiology, pharmacology, toxicology, efficacy, and safety studies.
• Collaborate with clinical and regulatory teams.
• Manage nonclinical timelines, budgets, and risk strategies.
• Identify and manage external partners for nonclinical work.
• Lead development of bioanalytical and ADA assays.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Provide updates on program progress to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in microbiology, pharmacology, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in nonclinical drug development.
• Background in microbiology, pharmacology, and toxicology.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Deep understanding of nonclinical development and regulatory requirements.
• Proven track record managing nonclinical development programs.
• Skilled in interpreting complex scientific data.
• Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
• Effective communicator with stakeholders.
