Overview

The Underwriting Assistant provides high-level support to a team of underwriters and plays a key role in facilitating end-to-end underwriting operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of new and renewal business, endorsements, and audits.

• Supports several underwriters with the management of their joint accounts.
• Communicates with brokers/agents on behalf of their underwriter partner.
• Prepares underwriting files and ensures accuracy and completeness.
• Reviews correspondence and updates underwriting files.
• Refers risk-involved matters to underwriters.
• Performs data entry in multiple systems.
• Prepares quote proposals for clients.
• Invoices policies and endorsements.
• Identifies process inefficiencies.
• Mentors junior underwriting assistants.

Requirements

• Associates or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Insurance background required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Strong desk and time management skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
