Back End Engineer (Rails) - Remote

In Short

• Work as a Back End Engineer on the VA.gov Platform Team.
• Build and maintain secure backend services using Ruby on Rails.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and UX teams.
• Modernize and scale VA.gov APIs.
• Support CI/CD and DevOps efforts.
• Focus on backend business logic and database models.
• Participate in Agile environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills required.
• Must be a US Citizen and able to work domestically.
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of backend engineering experience (Rails, Python, or similar).
• Solid experience building RESTful APIs and service endpoints.
• Familiarity with AWS, PostgreSQL, and security compliance.
• Hands-on experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
